About Chabad-Lubavitch
Chabad-Lubavitch is one of the world's largest Jewish educational and outreach movements, serving communities across more than 100 countries through thousands of locally operated centres.
Founded upon the teachings of the Baal Shem Tov and developed into the intellectual framework of Chabad by Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi, Chabad emphasizes understanding, heartfelt devotion, practical mitzvah observance, and unconditional love for every Jew.
Inspired by the vision of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, Chabad emissaries have established thriving Jewish communities across the globe, dedicated to strengthening Jewish identity, education, and communal life.
Although connected through a shared mission and philosophy, each Chabad centre — including Chabad Flamingo — is independently operated and locally supported by the community it serves.
Our Story
Rabbi Mendel and Faygie Kaplan arrived in the spring of 1998 with a simple mission: to build a warm, vibrant Jewish home for every Jew in the growing Thornhill community.
Beginning with no membership list and no established community, Chabad Flamingo quickly became a gathering place where Jews from every background felt welcome.
Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of Ernest Manson and his family, and the vision of Rabbi Zalman Grossbaum, the Ernest Manson Lubavitch Centre became a reality.
As the community continued to flourish, the campus expanded into the vibrant centre it is today — serving thousands of individuals annually through educational, religious, cultural, youth, and social programming.
More than two decades later, Chabad Flamingo continues to grow while remaining faithful to the same mission on which it was founded:
To open the doors of Judaism to every Jew with warmth, authenticity, and love.
